Latch

Coming soon to iOS and Android · United States

Buy and sell without meeting up.

Latch turns the riskiest part of a local trade — the handoff — into a safe, contactless exchange through a smart locker. The seller drops off, the buyer picks up, and the payment is held in escrow until the item is inside.

  • No meetups
  • No addresses shared
  • Escrow-protected

How it works

One item. One locker. Two people who never have to meet.

Every Latch trade follows the same four steps, whether it started in our marketplace or in a chat somewhere else.

  1. Step 1

Agree on the item — anywhere

Find a deal in the Latch marketplace or on any platform you already use. The seller creates a trade in Latch and sends the buyer a private link.

  2. Step 2

Buyer accepts and pays into escrow

The buyer reviews the item, price and locker, then pays. Latch holds the money and reserves a compartment sized for the item.

  3. Step 3

Seller drops off from the app

At the locker, the seller opens the reserved compartment from the app, places the item and closes the door — on their own schedule.

  4. Step 4

Buyer picks up, seller gets paid

The moment the locker confirms the deposit, escrow releases to the seller and the buyer can open the compartment from the app to collect. No meeting, no address shared.

Why Latch

Built for the moments marketplaces leave to chance.

Meeting strangers, sharing your address, waiting around, hoping the money shows up. Latch removes each one.

Escrow-protected payments

Money is held by Latch and released only when the locker confirms the item is inside. Refund and dispute support if something is wrong.

Contactless and asynchronous

Drop off when it suits you; pick up when it suits them. Nobody waits in a parking lot or rearranges their day.

Private by default

No phone numbers, no home addresses, no porch pickups. Coordinate in a per-trade chat that never exposes your contact details.

Works with any marketplace

Already agreed on a deal elsewhere? Finish it safely through Latch. A trade link is all the other person needs.

A marketplace built around lockers

Browse and list items nearby, negotiate in the app, and every deal ends at a locker instead of a doorstep.

Ratings that build trust

Rate every counterpart on timeliness, accuracy and cleanliness. Block or report anyone you would rather not deal with again.

For sellers

  • Drop off once, on your schedule — no back-and-forth about times.
  • Get paid the moment the locker confirms your deposit.
  • Repeat trades efficiently: default lockers, saved details, clear status for every deal.

For buyers

  • Pay into escrow, not to a stranger — with a dispute window after pickup.
  • Collect from a locker near you, whenever it suits you — just open it from the app.
  • Never share your phone number or home address to close a deal.

Where are Latch lockers?

Latch launches in the United States on a network of smart lockers in public, well-lit locations. Every locker shows its address, opening hours and available compartment sizes in the app, and you can save your favorites.

When does the seller get paid?

As soon as the locker hardware confirms the item has been deposited and the door is closed. Payouts go to the seller’s bank account through Stripe, our payment partner.

What does it cost?

A flat locker fee based on the compartment size, shown clearly before anyone pays. There are no subscriptions and no hidden charges; Latch never takes a percentage of the item price on top of the displayed fees.

What if the item is not what was agreed?

Buyers have a dispute window after pickup. Share photos with our support team and we will review the trade, with refunds returned to your original payment method.

Do I need the app to receive a trade?

Yes — Latch is a mobile app for iPhone and Android. A trade link opens the app if you have it, or takes you to the store to install it.

Is Latch accessible?

Yes. Mark “accessibility needed” in your profile and Latch reserves a compartment at a reachable height. The app itself targets WCAG 2.2 AA.

Get Latch when it opens.

Latch is in development for iOS and Android. Leave us your email and we will let you know the moment it is ready to download — and if you run a local marketplace community or a venue that could host lockers, we would love to talk.
